Pierre Sage unsure of Lyon future

Pierre Sage has said that he is unsure of his future as Olympique Lyonnais manager. The Frenchman was promoted from his role as academy manager following the sacking of Fabio Grosso.

Sage has orchestrated a revival at Lyon. Having picked up just seven points in their opening 14 games of the Ligue 1 season, Lyon have nine in their last three. It means that Les Gones go into the winter break outside of the relegation zone. However, the person responsible for that change in form may not be in the dugout come 2024.

Sage was only appointed on an interim basis, but positive performances saw his tenure extended until the winter break. However, there are no guarantees that he will remain in the post. Bruno Genesio and Jorge Sampaoli have both been linked with the role.

Following OL’s victory over FC Nantes, Sage said that he would remain at the club in the New Year, although he did not yet know in what capacity. “I can just tell you that I will be at Olympique Lyonnais (in 2024). But in what position, I don’t know,” he said in a post-match interview, transcribed by RMC Sport.
