All away fan travel to high-risk games in Ligue 1 to be prohibited until the 18th of December

According to RMC Sport, the travelling of away fans to high-risk games in Ligue 1 and the rest of French football is set to be banned until the 18th of December 2023. This ban will be in place until the next meeting of the INS, France’s national supporter body, which takes place on the same day.

With the meeting date confirmed for the middle of December, the Interior Minister should issue a ban prohibiting away fans from travelling to watch their team at “high-risk” games until the 18th of December. The Minister of Sport wants to put more stringent measures in place following the tragedy that saw a Nantes supporter tragically lose their life.

This temporary ban is expected to be the first of new several measures to be issued on fan behaviour and conduct in French football. These new measures are expected to be implemented by the Sports Minister in January. The ban is set to impact games like Marseille v Lyon on Wednesday which was embroiled in controversy earlier this season following the attack on the OL team bus by OM fans.
