Manchester United’s Donny van de Beek not keen on Lorient move with Les Merlus now advancing on Tiémoué Bakayoko

Le Parisien are reporting that Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek (26) has shown little to no intention of joining Ligue 1 side FC Lorient on loan.

Foot Mercato broke the news on Wednesday that the Red Devils and Les Merlus had reached an agreement over a season-long loan in Brittany for the Dutch international. The 26-year-old midfielder is reportedly willing to wait for different options before the summer transfer window closes on September 1st.

With Van de Beek’s loan move at a standstill, Lorient are pursuing other options to bolster their midfield. One of them leads to former Chelsea midfielder Tiémoué Bakayoko (28). The 2016-2017 Ligue 1 champion with Monaco is now a free agent after officially leaving the Blues last June after a flurry of loans abroad. This past campaign, he only featured 39 minutes for AC Milan, coming off the bench in three Serie A games.

Le Parisien understands that talks are well-advanced between FC Lorient and Bakayoko. The one-time France international would reunite with Regis Le Bris, who was one of his coaches during his time at the Stade Rennais Academy. L’Équipe have since added that Bakayoko is set to undergo his medical at Lorient later on Thursday ahead of the completion of the move.
