Lorient reach agreement to loan Manchester United’s Donny van de Beek

Foot Mercato are reporting that Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek (26) could be set for a shock loan move to Ligue 1 side FC Lorient.

The French publication are reporting that whilst Lorient have reached an agreement with Manchester United to loan the Dutch midfielder, finalising the deal could be difficult given the stiff competition for his signature. Van de Beek has failed to establish himself at Old Trafford since his big-money move from Ajax back in 2020. The arrival of Erik Ten Hag, with whom he worked in the Eredivisie, has not changed the Netherlands international’s fortunes.

Manchester United were keen on retaining Van de Beek earlier in the window with the Premier League side rejecting Real Sociedad’s advances, however, they are now willing to let their out-of-favour midfielder leave. Lorient have been in discussions over a loan move, and an agreement has even been reached, according to Foot Mercato. However, there is competition for his signature, and with a wealth of offers at his disposal, Van de Beek could make the choice to join a more ambitious club.
