Benjamin Mendy, Achraf Hakimi and Wissam Ben Yedder targeted by banners displayed near Lorient stadium

Before FC Lorient’s first home game of the Ligue 1 season against OGC Nice, a collective has displayed banners pointing the finger at three Ligue 1 players who have been accused of sexual crimes, namely new Lorient signing Benjamin Mendy, Paris Saint-Germain right-back Achraf Hakimi and AS Monaco forward Wissam Ben Yedder. According to Le Télégramme, the banners were displayed on Lorient’s Grand Théâtre steps – near Les Merlus‘ Stade du Moustoir.

What is the justice system doing? B. Mendy, A. Hakimi, W. Ben Yedder. No forgetting. No forgiveness“, reads the banner. The outlet understands that the yet unknown collective displayed the banners on Friday night. Mendy was cleared of all charges of sexual crimes last month by the Chester Crown Court. Only days after the verdict, he sealed a return to Ligue 1 by signing a two-year contract with FC Lorient.

Meanwhile, Hakimi has been accused of rape by a 24-year-old woman last February. The Moroccan international was charged several days later with an investigation underway. As for Ben Yedder, the France international has also been charged with rape, attempted rape, and sexual assault.
