West Ham enter race for €20m-rated Metz forward Georges Mikautadze after Sheffield United bid rejected

West Ham United have entered the race to sign FC Metz forward Georges Mikautadze (22), according to Le10Sport. Sheffield United and Lazio have both seen bids rejected.

Mikautadze lit up Ligue 2 last season and isn’t short of suitors. In France, Olympique de Marseille and Olympique Lyonnais are both interested in the Georgian international forward, but neither have made their move. OL are particularly interested in Mikautadze, who came through the club’s academy. The sale of Cenzig Ünder, meanwhile, could allow Marseille to make their move, although Les Phocéens also have an interest in Lokomotiv Moscow’s Wilson Isidor.

For now, only two clubs have made an offer: Sheffield United and Lazio. The former’s offer is worth €18m, whilst the latter have offered €15m. Both offers have been rejected with newly-promoted Metz holding out for €20m. West Ham have now entered the race, although they are yet to submit an offer. The Hammers are also in negotiations to sign Elye Wahi (20) from Montpellier HSC.
