FC Nantes fan stabbed before Nice home game kick-off

A FC Nantes supporter has been stabbed by a vehicle-for-hire driver, according to L’Equipe and Ouest-France. The victim suffers from life-threatening injuries. The awful news has been confirmed by FC Nantes. The assault reportedly occurred before the kick-off of tonight’s Ligue 1 game between Les Canaris and Francesco Farioli’s high-flying Aiglons. For the first time this Ligue 1 season, the unbeaten OGC Nice side are currently trailing following Florent Mollet’s opening goal.

Of course, the game’s scoreline is of little interest compared to the gravity of tonight’s incident. Eyewitnesses on the scene have revealed that the stabbed FC Nantes fan has been taken into care by first responders, who provided him with cardiac massaging. The victim is reportedly a member of the famed Brigade Loire ultra group. In light of tonight’s awful news, several members of the fan group have left Stade de la Beaujoire. Sources contacted by Get French Football News understand that the suspect was carrying Nice supporters to La Beaujoire. He is on the run and yet to be apprehended.
