Despite facing an enforced travel ban, a Sevilla FC ultras group has arrived in Lens for their team’s upcoming Champions League fixture on Tuesday.
On Monday, a ministerial decree was published prohibiting Sevilla supporters from attending the match or the stadium’s surrounding areas.
This order came due to the French government’s efforts to curb growing concerns over crowd violence following the death of a Nantes supporter.
Over the last weekend, eight games were categorised as high-risk fixtures which meant that away fans could not travel to watch their teams across Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, as well as the Coupe de France.
The match between RC Lens and Sevilla looks to be the latest to be impacted by these efforts. However, as RMC reports, this did little to dissuade the ultra group, Biris Norte from arriving in Lens.
The supporters were spotted in a bar in Lens where they posed for a photo with a caption that appeared to be aimed at the decree: ‘It’s impossible to kill someone unwilling to give up.’
