Lyon predicted XI v Rennes: Rayan Cherki to remain on bench

Rayan Cherki is set to once again start on the bench for Olympique Lyonnais when they face Stade Rennais at the Roazhon Park on Sunday evening.

The promising France U21 international has not featured as prominently since Fabio Grosso’s arrival as manager. Having been a guaranteed starter under Laurent Blanc, he has started just two of the last five games. He assisted Lyon’s equaliser against FC Metz last weekend, but that won’t be rewarded with a place in the starting lineup against Rennes, according to L’Équipe.

Elsewhere, Clinton Mata is not fit enough to return this weekend and he has therefore missed out on the matchday squad. Johann Lepenant has also missed out on the squad as OL look to finally register their first victory of the season.

Lyon likely lineup v Rennes

Anthony Lopes; Jake O’Brien, Dejan Lovren, Sinaly Diomandé; Nicolas Tagliafico, Corentin Tolisso, Skelly Alvero, Maxence Caqueret, Saël Kumbedi; Ernest Nuamah, Alexandre Lacazette. (L’Éq)
