‘He’s already one of the best midfielders in the world’ – Jorge Mendes believes Warren Zaïre-Emery could win the Ballon d’Or

In an interview with Téléfoot, Jorge Mendes welcomed his client, Warren Zaïre-Emery (17), back to action and commented on the potential of the PSG midfielder. Zaïre-Emery made his comeback to PSG action in their 2-1 victory against Nantes as a second-half substitute.

The France international has made his return to competitive action much quicker than many expected, with fears that he could be out of action until early 2024 at the earliest. The 17-year-old sustained an ankle injury on his France debut against Gibraltar. However, this will not stunt his progress as one of Europe’s rising stars in the opinion of his agent Jorge Mendes.

A future Ballon d’Or winner?

Speaking to Téléfoot, the agent said, “He is already, at the moment, one of the best midfield players in the world, and for sure he will be one of the best players in the world. Maybe, one day he will win the Ballon d’Or.” The Portuguese football agent also commented on the PSG academy product’s maturity, “He is a great example for little kids, already at 17-year-old, he knows what to do and how to do it.”

Zaïre-Emery’s return to action comes at a positive time for PSG with their critical Champions League tie against Dortmund in midweek. The tie is in the hands of Luis Enrique’s team with a victory in Germany enough for them to qualify for the knockout rounds and finish first in Group F.
