Lyon exploring move for Clément Lenglet, whose Aston Villa future is in doubt

L’Équipe are reporting that Olympique Lyonnais are exploring a move for Clément Lenglet (28), whose continuation at Aston Villa is in doubt.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Lenglet’s loan spell at Aston Villa could be cut short. The Frenchman could return to Barcelona before a potential loan spell elsewhere. The France international, however, made his first Premier League start on Friday, starting in a 1-1 draw against Sheffield United, whilst manager Unaï Emery has expressed a desire to retain Lenglet this January.

Botafogo’s Adryelson and Lucas Perri to join

However, as reported by L’Équipe a move cannot be ruled out. Lyon are looking to strengthen at centre-back and have identified Lenglet as a key target. Amidst Aston Villa’s stated desire to retain the player, as well as interest from Bayern Munich and AC Milan, a move could, however, prove difficult for OL.

Lyon’s defence will at least be strengthened by the arrival of Adryelson (25), who will join from another Eagle Football Group side Botafogo, whilst Lucas Perri, a 26-year-old goalkeeper, will also arrive to challenge Anthony Lopes. The latter’s role as No.1 will not be called into question between now and the end of the season, but the battle for the jersey will be open from the summer.
