Rayan Cherki determined to stay at Lyon, despite club’s wishes to sell

According to L’ÉquipeRayan Cherki (20) is determined to stay at formative club Olympique Lyonnais, despite the club’s desire to cash in on the France U21 international in January.

Whilst Cherki continues to shine for Les Bleuets, his performances for Les Gones have been less convincing, and at times this season, he has even been booed by his own fans. With just 18 months remaining on his deal, Lyon reportedly want to sell the playmaker this winter in order to garner a significant fee for the player. However, amidst his downturn in form, Foot Mercato reported that OL would demand as little as €10m for Cherki.

L’Équipe, however, report that Lyon, during their meeting with the DNCG, evaluated the player at around €20m. As Lyon look to finance a rebuild of the squad, Cherki has been earmarked for a departure. However, Cherki has told the club’s hierarchy that he is determined to remain at the club.

No clubs are yet to register an interest, although West Ham United, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain were all reportedly interested in the playmaker in the summer.
