Official | Jeffinho signs for Olympique Lyonnais

Olympique Lyonnais have announced the signing of Brazilian forward Jeffinho on a four-and-a-half year contract. The deal is worth €10m, which could rise by an additional €2.5m in player bonuses. As reported earlier today, the 23-year-old underwent and passed his medical examination with Les Gones this afternoon.

He arrives from Lyon’s new sister club, Botafogo. The Brazilian side is owned by John Textor, an American businessman who bought a majority stake (77.49%) in L’OL last month. Textor also owns a majority stake in Premier League club Crystal Palace, as well as in Belgian second-tier league leaders RWD Molenbeek.

Jeffinho’s Botafogo finished 11th in the top flight of Brazilian football last November. During the season, he registered two goals and three assists across 24 league games. With the departure of Karl Toko Ekambi on loan to Rennes, Lyon have secured the services of a worthy replacement to lead the front line for the Rhône side. They are currently ninth in Ligue 1 after 20 games.
