Florian Thauvin pushing for Ligue 1 return

According to Foot MercatoFlorian Thauvin (30) wants to return to Ligue 1. The former France international has recently seen his playing time at Serie A side Udinese diminished.

Udinese are mired in a relegation battle this season, however, Thauvin is playing an increasingly peripheral role within it. The Frenchman has three goals and three assists since joining the Italian side last January, however, amidst a formational tweak and a managerial change, Thauvin has started the last three games on the bench.

According to Foot Mercato, former Olympique de Marseille forward Thauvin is now targeting a return to France, with the ambition of even working his way back into the France national team. He is open to making concessions on his salary in order to ensure his repatriation.

A return to OM is not on the table. The possibility was discussed internally, but the finances of the deal, as well as Gennaro Gattuso’s tactical style, are barriers to a move. However, other options in Ligue 1 could present themselves in January.
