‘Playing for a draw against Brighton puts in you in the hands of god’ – Gennaro Gattuso wary of Seagulls threat

Speaking at his pre-match press conference at the Amex Stadium ahead of Marseille’s final Europa League test against Brighton and Hove Albion, manager Gennaro Gattuso was wary of going into the final group game needing a draw, and revealed he was nervous about his side’s mentality going into the the test. The following was transcribed by Get French Football News editor George Boxall at the Amex.

“The most difficult game to play would be to play against a De Zerbi team and try and come away with a draw. We simply can’t come here and play for a draw to a team like Brighton. We have to have courage and match the courage of Brighton,” began the fiery Italian boss.

Brighton are everywhere on the pitch, against Chelsea they had 65% possession away from home – they have incredible stats. We can’t come here and play for a draw, we’d need Jesus Christ to do that. Playing for a draw against Brighton puts you in the hands of god.”
