Mathieu Valbuena’s agent has sensationally announced that he is in talks with Barcelona for his client to move there.
There is no doubt, Mathieu Valbuena was one of Ligue 1’s outstanding players last season (read all about him HERE) and Marseille’s recent acquisition of Dimitri Payet could very well be seen as a replacement in anticipation of the little man’s departure.
If Valbuena’s agent’s claim is false, it seems an odd statement to make considering how loved the player is at Marseille and how hard he has worked in previous years to become arguably the top attacking midfielder in the league.
When Valbuena’s was quizzed on his future this week, he merely replied ‘I do not want to answer this question’, clearly suggesting that a move is a distinct possibility. Valbuena’s departure would be a complete disaster for Marseille; he caused the creative spark consistently which enabled OM to fight alongside PSG for the title for so long last season.
