‘He’s heading to Paris’ – Corinthians president confirms Gabriel Moscardo PSG transfer

Speaking exclusively to Rádio Bandeirantes, Corinthians’ future president Augusto Melo has confirmed that Gabriel Moscardo (18) will join PSG in the coming days: “Unfortunately, the cycle has come to an end, his mind is elsewhere, we gave him the freedom to chose, may he be happy. He’s heading to Paris.”

This further confirms previous information, which indicated that Moscardo had already found an agreement with the Parisians and that the two clubs were entering the final stages of negotiating the transfer, for a fee rumoured to be around €25 million.

Adaptation period required for Moscardo?

Regardless of his talent, the player will come with very little garnered playtime, as mentioned by Melo: “He’s a player with very little time in the professional world, I wish he would stay a lot longer.” Indeed, Moscardo only broke through in the Corinthians first team this season, making 18 appearances in the Brazilian Serie A, less than half of those as a starter. Moving to a whole new continent, he will undoubtedly require an adaptation period, progressively accumulating game time to prove that he is ready for this new challenge.

Moscardo plays in a similar position to that of Manuel Ugarte (22), and will surely look to replicate his new Uruguayan teammate’s excellent start to life as a PSG player.
