Sevilla fans to be banned from travelling for Champions League clash against Lens

Speaking to Brut, French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin has confirmed that Sevilla fans will be banned from travelling for their Champions League clash against Lens on Tuesday. This announcement comes as no surprise following the temporary ban of travelling supporters at “high-risk” matches in France which is in place until 18th December.

It was initially unknown whether these matches would include European matches due to take place in France, but these comments from Darmanin seem to indicate that these matches will also be treated as “high-risk”. The Interior Minister announced that he is set to issue an order that will prohibit Sevilla fans from travelling for the UCL clash at Lens.

This order could cause several problems for fans of the La Liga club due to the short-notice nature of the ban. The announcement of the ban comes two days before the match is due to take place on Tuesday night. All that’s left to play for the two sides is Europa League qualification with both teams unable to qualify for the knockout rounds of the Champions League.
