Bradley Locko called up to France U21 squad after Chelsea’s Malo Gusto pulls out with injury

Stade Brestois’ Bradley Locko (21) has received a call-up to the France U21 squad after Chelsea’s Malo Gusto (20) and FC Nantes’ Quentin Merlin (21) withdrew through injury.

Les Bleuets face Austria U21 and South Korea U21 in the upcoming international break. Initially, Thierry Henry called up Gusto and Merlin, however, both have returned to their respective clubs due to injury. An MRI scan revealed that Gusto, who received his first call-up to the senior side in the last international break, has a small knee ligament injury, whilst Merlin has an adductor injury.

Only one player has been called up to replace the injured duo, Locko. The right-back has played the entirety of Brest’s 11 Ligue 1 games so far this season. Eric Roy’s side didn’t play last weekend due to the club’s stadium, the Stade Francis-Le Blé, being in an unfit state to host the match due to damaged suffered in a recent storm.

Lény Yoro, who came off injured during Lille OSC’s 1-1 draw against FC Toulouse, will join up with Henry’s squad, although there remains a doubt as to whether he will participate in the upcoming matches.
