Marseille’s Jordan Amavi nearing Brest loan

RMC Sport are reporting that Marseille left-back Jordan Amavi (29) is on the verge of being loaned out to Ligue 1 rivals Stade Brestois.

The Bretons were already keen to bring in the France international on loan during last winter’s transfer window. Now, they are poised to finally welcome the former Aston Villa man into their ranks. Amavi is not part of Marseille’s plans for the near future. The OGC Nice youth product was allowed to spend last season on loan at La Liga side Getafe. The left-back found little joy and playing time in the suburbs of Madrid. He only made five appearances during his stay with the Azulones.

Marseille’s recruitment of Renan Lodi was a clear signal that Amavi would be surplus to requirements at the Vélodrome. The left-back, still tied to Les Phocéens until 2025, is poised for another loan spell, but this time with a Ligue 1 club. RMC Sport understands that Stade Brestois, Marseille and Amavi are in the closing stages of wrapping up the latter’s loan move to Brittany. Amavi would compete with Bradley Locko in Eric Roy’s side. Brest have been dealt their first defeat of the Ligue 1 season on Saturday against Marseille. They will host Brittany rivals Stade Rennais on Saturday before the international break.
