‘In February, we’ll be a lot stronger’ – Luis Enrique reacts to PSG’s Champions League progression

Luis Enrique says that he believes his Paris Saint-Germain side will be in a much better position come February, when PSG face their, currently unknown, opponents in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.

PSG’s progression to the knockout stages was secured thanks to a 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday. The result saw them finish second in the group, which will leave Les Parisiens with a difficult draw.

PSG’S POTENTIAL OPPONENTS IN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE ROUND OF 16

PSG’s performances in the group stages have been mixed. Luis Enrique’s side drew their last two matches, but suffered a heavy defeat away to Newcastle United (4-1) and also a defeat at the San Siro (2-1). However, speaking on Wendesday, Luis Enrique says that his side will be in a better place come February.

I am very happy because, throughout these six matches, we have shown a clear idea […] We have always been attacking and we have always created more chances than our opponents. This summer, there were 11 signings, new staff, and a new campus – everything is new. I have absolutely no doubt that in February, we’ll be a lot stronger,” said the PSG manager in a press conference, transcribed by L’Équipe.

PSG fell at the Round of 16 stage last season after being drawn against Bayern Munich. Les Parisiens will be hoping not to fall at the same hurdle once again in February 2024.
