Lyon want just €10m for Rayan Cherki

After Foot Mercato revealed that Olympique Lyonnais have opened the door for Rayan Cherki (20) to leave in January, L’Équipe report that the club want as little as €10m to part ways with their academy product.

Could Cherki be the bargain buy of the winter? Whilst the OL forward continues to impress with the France U21 side, he is struggling to replicate that form at club level. He has failed to earn the trust of successive managers and was called “not special” by now-former manager Fabio Grosso.

Cherki’s performance against Olympique de Marseille on Wednesday drew particularly stinging criticism, and with Lyon looking to grow their budget ahead of a January rebuild, as they look to stave off relegation, the academy product is seen as bankable. According to L’Équipe, OL were open to the prospect of selling him in the summer, however, the right offer did not land on the table.

However, with just 18 months remaining on his contract come January, Cherki could be sold for between €10-15m. According to Foot Mercatono clubs are yet to register an interest, although West Ham United, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain were all reportedly interested in the playmaker in the summer.
