Lyon offer contract extension to Castello Lukeba

With the club set to undergo a period of transition as John Textor takes over as president, Lyon will nevertheless be looking to build on a promising end to the campaign which can still culminate in a spot in Europe.

One of the pillars of Les Gones‘ strong spring form has been young defender Castello Lukeba, who has emerged as one of the league’s most promising talents. The club do not necessarily want to part ways with Lukeba. Nevertheless, the need for Textor to raise money this summer before facing French football’s financial watchdog, the DNCG, means that they will be listening to offers for their most valuable players, including the centre-back, according to Foot Mercato.

The idea scenario for the Lyon management, though, is that Lukeba stays over the long term, and believe that he represents the club’s future – as a result, a contract extension has been offered to the French youth international. He has 34 appearances in all competitions this season, his best return yet.
