Auxerre’s Han-Noah Massengo contacted by Congo FA

Speaking in an exclusive interview with the Ligue 1 website, AJ Auxerre midfielder Han-Noah Massengo (21) revealed that he has been contacted by the Congolese FA regarding representing the country’s national team. 

Massengo is currently on loan at Auxerre from Championship side Bristol City. However, his contract at the English club expires in the summer. His club future is therefore uncertain, despite some positive performances in Ligue 1 since his mid-season arrival. 

His international future is equally uncertain. The former AS Monaco academy player made his first appearance for the France U21 side in a 0-0 draw against Spain on Tuesday. However, Massengo, of Franco-Congolese descent, wore the Congo flag on his boots during the match. 

Now in an interview with Ligue 1, transcribed by L’Équipethe Auxerre midfielder has revealed that he has been approached by the Congo FA. Massengo revealed he went to Congo with his family during the World Cup break. “With my family, we were invited by the federation to see the facilities. They want me to play for the national team, but I told them that I haven’t made up my mind yet. That could be an option one day, as could France,” he said.
