Official | OGC Nice terminate Kasper Schmeichel’s contract

OGC Nice have terminated the contract of Danish goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel (36) by mutual consent, according to a club communiqué. This comes after Get French Football News exclusively revealed that Les Aiglons were attempting to offload the player before the end of the transfer window.

Le Gym were keen to offload the player today, even if it meant letting the player go for free, as Get French Football News understood.

The purchase of Marcin Bulka from Paris Saint-Germain and his establishment as first choice goalkeeper at Nice has meant that the former Premier League champion with Leicester City had lost his starting place with Nice this season.

This was despite a strong finish last season, with the Dane putting in several key performances at the backend of the campaign following a difficult start to life at the Allianz Riveira.

Nice said in their announcement that “the club wishes him much success in his further career.”

The Dane had missed out on Francesco Farioli’s squad in all three of Nice’s first Ligue 1 matches this season.
