Official | Rennes prospect Matthis Abline joins Auxerre on loan

Rennes have tonight announced that young forward Matthis Abline has joined fellow Ligue 1 club Auxerre, on a loan move until the end of the season.

The deal, which was confirmed by manager Bruno Génésio in his press conference on Saturday, does not include a permanent option. The coach indicated that the move would allow the 19-year-old to increase his playing time, and that the club would not be looking for a replacement this month.

Abline has found the net twice this season – once in Ligue and another in the Europa League, but has been restricted to just 11 substitute appearances in domestic play so far this campaign. Last season, he featured seven times – having made his senior debut the previous year – before a loan move to Le Havre in the second half of the season. During his time in Normandy, Abline impressed with six goals and three assists in 16 games. He now joins an Auxerre side currently struggling in the relegation zone in the top flight.
