Strasbourg President Marc Keller met with Chelsea executives at Cobham

Racing Club Strasbourg Alsace president Marc Keller met Chelsea FC executives at the club’s Cobham training ground on Friday, according to a report from L’Équipe.

The West London side’s owners, a consortium spearheaded by Todd Boehly and investment firm Clearlake Capital, are in talks over a potential takeover of the Alsaciens. The outlet reports that Keller and his advisors met with Chelsea employees and the French players within the squad. The Blues ended the Premier League season with a home 1-1 draw against Newcastle, and therefore finished the season in 12th place, the club’s lowest Premier League finish since 1994.

L’Équipe adds that the takeover process may accelerate in the coming weeks now that Strasbourg have secured their Ligue 1 status for next season’s campaign. Following the shrewd appointment of relegation fight specialist Frédéric Antonetti, Strasbourg pulled away from the four-team drop zone for good. Strasbourg are mathematically certain to play Ligue 1 football next season courtesy of their 1-1 draw against league champions PSG last Saturday. Strasbourg have also recently announced their plans to expand their La Meinau stadium.
