Rennes’ Matthis Abline set for loan move to Auxerre

In the next few days, Matthis Abline will be headed to Auxerre on loan due to a lack of playing time with Rennes. The 19-year-old striker was reportedly approached by several clubs. According to Le Parisien, the Burgundy club identified the French youth international as a player who could strengthen their attack.

The Angers native made 15 appearances for the club in all competitions but only started twice. In his time on the field he found the net twice, one of those goals coming in the  Europa League. The youth international is no stranger to taking advantage of loan moves. Last season he racked up 6 goals and 2 assists while on loan with Le Havre.

The transfer market officially opens on January 1 and  Auxerre are making the most of it. The club also brought in right-back Akim Zedadka from Lille in early December and be in position for Marseille defender Isaak – Touré at the start of the transfer window.
