Angers sideline left-back Ilyes Chetti following suspended sentence for sexual assault

After he was handed a four-month suspended prison sentence this morning for sexual assault, Angers left-back Ilyes Chetti has been suspended by his club for a month, according to L’Équipe.

The 28-year-old appeared in court according a procedure by which he pleaded guilty over inappropriately touching a woman in a nightclub in the city, during the World Cup break last year.

Chetti arrived this summer from Espérance de Tunis on a four-year deal, and has made just six appearances for Ligue 1’s bottom-placed side, who are winless since September and sit on just ten points. Manager Alexandre Dujeux – Abdel Bouhazama’s successor – had indicated earlier in the day that the defender would not be included in his squad to face Lille on Saturday afternoon.

L’Équipe add that Angers press officer Mohamed Sifaoui has indicated that a definite decision would be taken on the Algerian international’s future by the end of the season.
