Al-Ahli make contact with Chelsea goalkeeper Édouard Mendy

Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli have set their sights on Chelsea goalkeeper Édouard Mendy (31) and reportedly made contact with the player. Foot Mercato report that the club has expressed a strong interest in the services of the 31-year-old goalkeeper. Initial contact has reportedly already been made between the Saudi club and Mendy, who has enjoyed a mixed 2022-2023 season at Chelsea.

Recently promoted to the Saudi Premier League, Al-Ahli are working hard to bolster their squad with top-class talent. The club has also been notoriously interested in signing Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez (32) as one of many Saudi clubs targeting Premier League players.

The Senegalese goalkeeper played a key role in Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League triumph two seasons ago, but has had his ups and downs during the 2022-2023 campaign. A new challenge in Saudi Arabia could be an attractive prospect for Mendy, who is looking to get back to his best form.
