Angers’ Ibrahim Amadou closing in on move to China

L’Équipe report this afternoon that Angers midfielder Ibrahim Amadou could be set to leave the relegation battlers in the near future, and is flying out to China tonight to discuss a deal with his potential new club.

The 29-year-old has attracted interest from Shanghai Shenhua, which could see him bring an early end to his one-year contract with Le SCO, having only made seven appearances in Ligue 1 all season.

With the club sitting rock bottom on ten points, and winless since September, Amadou is among a host of players who are already planning out their next move. His first spell with Angers, a loan spell from Sevilla during the 2020/21 season, was somewhat more successful, given he made 28 appearances in all competitions and even found the net twice.

The Nancy youth product has previously played in England for Norwich and in Spain for the Andalusians as well as Leganés. Now, the former Lille man looks set to go abroad again, this time further afield.
