Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette (31) has resumed individual training, according to a report from Le Progrès. Les Gones‘ best goalscorer this season, with 18 strikes in all competitions, is nursing a small hamstring strain that he sustained during Lyon’s home win against Lens for Ligue 1 gameweek 23. Lacazette had to sit out Lyon’s loss against Auxerre last week. Depending on his recovery, he may resume full training soon. Unless there is a good surprise, the former Arsenal player will probably not be fit enough to play against bottom-placed Angers on Saturday at 5pm local time at the Stade Raymond-Kopa.
Lacazette’s goal is presumably to feature in the Coupe de France quarter-final against Ligue 2 side Grenoble next Tuesday (9:10 pm local time) at Groupama Stadium. With Lyon limping in ninth place in the Ligue 1 standings, a Coupe de France title is probably the easiest way for Les Gones to qualify for the Europa League next season.
Meanwhile, Lyon midfielder Corentin Tolisso (28) is reportedly suffering from fatigue. The former Bayern Munich player had to pull out of the Auxerre game at the hour mark.
