Chelsea’s N’Golo Kanté set to miss rest of the season with groin injury

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kanté has suffered another injury that will force him to miss up to two weeks for the Blues.

The news was confirmed by Chelsea manager Frank Lampard ahead of facing Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge, who revealed that Kanté felt discomfort in his groin, which resulted in his absence from the squad. The French midfielder is expected to be sidelined for several weeks.

The injury comes as Chelsea face Nottingham Forest, with the Blues already trailing 1-0 after 19 minutes of play.

“We lost N’Golo, who felt something in his groin, which means it will probably take two weeks, and we know pretty much what that means,” Lampard said. The delay indicates that Chelsea will be without Kanté’s services for a crucial period at the end of what has been a terrible season.

This has also compounded what has been a difficult season for Kanté in terms of injuries. The French midfielder was previously out of action with a hamstring injury sustained in a match against Tottenham in August which saw him miss the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with the French national team.
