Karim Benzema: “I don’t want to talk about France or the World Cup anymore.”

Karim Benzema spoke to the Spanish press ahead of Real Madrid’s clash with Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup, where he declared that he didn’t want to talk about the France national team, the World Cup in Qatar, as well as Noël Le Graët affair.

It’s finished and it’s behind us,” said the Real Madrid man, “The most crucial thing is the upcoming game. I am mentally prepared. The rest is history, even if it was difficult.”

The Ballon d’Or winner then said:  “I don’t want to talk about the World Cup and France anymore. I will only respond to questions about the Spanish Super Cup final and not about the World Cup”. When asked about Noël Le Graët, Benzema repeated his desire to not respond.

The fitness of Benzema has been a contentious issue throughout France’s World Cup journey, which ultimately led to the striker announcing his retirement from international football following their defeat in the final against Argentina. Tensions arose between the France team, Real Madrid, and Benzema’s own team, particularly due to the fact that he played in a friendly match with Real Madrid on December 15th.
