RC Strasbourg Alsace have turned down Wolves’ €25m opening bid to acquire the services of promising midfielder Habib Diarra (19), according to a report this Wednesday from Dernières Nouvelles d’Alsace.
Furthermore, club president Marc Keller has announced that the 19-year-old will not join the Premier League club and will stick around at the BlueCo-owned Ligue 1 club for the season. Keller also confirmed that he had never the intention of parting ways with the young Senegalese midfielder.
Racing Club de Lens were also in the running to sign Diarra, although Wolves have outbid them with their €25m offer. Still, Keller’s stance is firm. The Strasbourg youth product is here to stay. Keller confirmed to the outlet that he had received a bid from the Premier League side for Diarra and that he had “politely” rejected it. “Habib will not leave”, Keller said. “I’ve said it from the start: our strategy is to build a competitive Racing Club de Strasbourg and to prepare for the future. Habib is a Racing Mutest Academy product and he knows that he is one of the players we rely on.“
However, Keller did not confirm whether Wolves had submitted a bid for Strasbourg midfielder Jean-Ricner Bellegarde. Wolverhampton are in the market for a midfielder amid the expected departure of Matheus Nunes to Manchester City.
