With the team’s relegation to Ligue 2 now confirmed, the City Group-owned Troyes are now preparing for life back in the second tier, with Australian manager Patrick Kisnorbo set to stay on despite overseeing a run of results that’s included just one win since November.
They will likely return to action with a revamped squad, as a busy transfer window beckons – not least for their defensive options. According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the team have identified Crystal Palace defender Jake O’Brien as a target, and have already opened talks with the player’s entourage.
The Irish U21 international has impressed this past season on loan at second-tier Belgian outfit RWD Molenbeek, appearing in most of the table-toppers’ matches and even contributing two goals. The centre-back had previously spent time at Swindon, and has yet to turn out for the Premier League side’s senior team since joining from Cork three years ago.
