Troyes management to investigate altercation involving Adil Rami and ultras

Adil Rami, a former French international defender currently at Troyes, was involved in a heated altercation with his team’s ultras after their league match against Nice this past Sunday. The event seems to have been so serious that the Ligue 1 club will be forced to take action. Some may recall another incident between Rami and the supporters after a previous defeat back in February, against Montpellier, outside the Stade de l’Aube.

During the latest altercation, insults were hurled between Rami and the ultras, and the situation nearly escalated before security intervened. In response, the president of the club, Aymeric Magne, attempted to calm the situation by speaking with the ultras. In a statement released afterwards, ESTAC reiterated that they condemned all forms of violence, while Rami took to Instagram to express his regrets, “I understand the disappointment of the supporters. On the other hand, I will never tolerate insults made towards my relatives or my teammates. That’s why I lost my temper after the match, after being insulted by a few individuals. I shouldn’t have reacted like this. Until the end, I give my best on the field. Allez Troyes.”

The club management has since decided to investigate the matter and will speak to both Rami and the ultras separately to get their version of events. Witnesses will also be heard, and the club will use all the available information to determine the appropriate action to take. Both Rami and the ultras have been warned that their behaviour is unacceptable, and that the club is determined to ensure that such incidents do not happen again. Among the ultras, some are even considering requesting that Rami not be allowed to wear the club’s colors again until his contract expires in June. Troyes are currently embroiled in a relegation battle, and this incident has only added to their troubles.
