PSG end efforts to sign Bernardo Silva as Manchester City rule out sale

Having been linked with a return to Ligue 1 since the end of last season, Bernardo Silva’s prospective move back to France will ostensibly not be taking place. According to Le Parisien this afternoon, the Manchester City management have definitively ruled out a sale of the Portuguese international.

After Riyad Mahrez’s departure to Saudi Arabia, last year’s treble winners were keen to avoid losing another wide man within a short timeframe.

Even if the former Monaco man himself was open to a potential move to PSG, the Premier League club have been adamant in refusing to entertain negotiations. The two state-owned clubs also have a poor rapport – exacerbated by the geopolitical relationship between Qatar and the United Arab Emirates – which has further complicated discussions.

As a result, the 28-year-old will remain in England, where he has been playing for the last six years under Pep Guardiola. PSG, meanwhile, are concentrating their efforts on bringing in Ousmane Dembélé from Barcelona in the next few days.
