Chelsea strike deal to sign Monaco’s Axel Disasi

The Athletic are reporting that Chelsea have reached an agreement in principle to sign AS Monaco’s Axel Disasi (25).

With Wesley Fofana set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines, Chelsea have decided to strengthen their defensive department this summer. According to The Athletic, the Stamford Bridge club have reached an agreement in principle to sign France international Disasi.

The former Stade de Reims centre-back, who is also capable of playing at right-back, as he has for the France national team on numerous occasions, has a contract with the Principality club that runs until 2025. The agreement in principle, that will see Disasi trade the Stade Louis II for Stamford Bridge, is worth around €45m. At Chelsea, Disasi will be reunited with former defensive partner Benoît Badiashile who moved from Monaco in January, whilst the Frenchman will also know Chelsea sporting director Lawrence Stewart from the latter’s time as technical director with Les Monégasques.
