Khéphren Thuram expected to remain at Nice

Having reportedly been courted for a summer move by both Liverpool and Bayern Munich, French international midfielder Khéphren Thuram could now remain at Nice for another season in Ligue 1.

According to L’Équipe this evening, the 22-year-old is now likely to remain on the French Riviera for another season – with Les Aiglons having intended to keep Thuram this year before selling next summer, when he will have entered the final year of his contract.

The former Monaco man, who has been a regular in the Nice first team for four seasons now, is also unlikely to push for a move so as to retain some stability as he looks to nail down a spot in France’s Euro 2024 squad. The likely absences of N’Golo Kanté and Paul Pogba will mean that there will be places up for grabs in Didier Deschamps’ squad. Having been called up for the first time back in March, Thuram will be looking to become a regular for Les Bleus.

A summer transfer could still happen, especially if a lucrative offer comes in, but both Nice and the player himself are not prioritising one for the time being. A contract extension and a salary raise could even be on the table, come the end of the transfer window in September.
