Following the end of his contract at Sochaux, fellow Ligue 2 side Dijon have offered Senegalese midfielder Ousseynou Thioune (28) a two-year contract, according to Foot Mercato. This is very likely the result of Omar Daf’s move from Sochaux to Dijon, with the Senegalese manager taking on a new Ligue 2 challenge after successfully reaching the play-offs last season.
Daf is reported to have prioritised the signing of compatriot Thioune, which comes as no surprise considering his crucial role in Daf’s Sochaux squad. The 28-year-old made 66 league appearances over the last two seasons, missing only two games in the last campaign.
Before his time with Sochaux, the Senegalese international plied his trade in his home country with Diambars FC, before a move to Moroccan side Ittihad Tanger. Sochaux eventually picked up the midfielder from Spanish second division side Gimnàstic de Tarragona.
While Dijon have submitted the offer to Sochaux, there is reportedly still no agreement between the two clubs over the player’s potential transfer.
