The LFP’s disciplinary commission has announced that, following today’s hearings, no decision will be made on the suspension of the suspended final-day Ligue 2 fixture between Bordeaux and Rodez until next week.
The match was crucial at both ends of the table – Bordeaux needing a win to keep their promotion hopes alive, and Rodez needing points to stay up – but was interrupted after only 20 minutes, as a Girondins faithful stormed onto the pitch to assault the opposition goalscorer Lucas Buades.
A statement released by the league authorities indicates that a further investigation will take regarding the attack, as well as the use of pyrotechnics by the home fans, with a final decision to come next Monday afternoon. As a result, for the time being, the match will not be counted as part of the final Ligue 2 table – meaning that, as it stands, there are no plans for a replay.
Should the final decision rule that the game does take place, the home side would need to win by a margin of five goals – as long as they are not deducted points as well – in order to go back up to Ligue 1.
