Having suffered serious head injuries nearly two weeks ago following a horse riding accident, Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Sergio Rico remains hospitalised in intensive care and has been placed back under sedation, according a hospital update reported by Le Parisien this afternoon.
The Spaniard had been completely taken off sedation a couple of days ago. Howeve, the Virgen del Rocío hospital of Sevilla has indicated that the 29-year-old is once again in an artificial coma, and that his condition remains serious, 12 days after the accident which had taken place during a pilgrimage in the Andalusian village of El Rocío.
PSG’s final match of the league campaign, at home to Clermont, had seen a number of shows of support for the goalkeeper, including a tifo and chanting from the supporters. The players had also worn his name on the back of their shirts for the duration of the first half, and club captain Marquinhos was wearing a Sergio Rico shirt as he lifted the Ligue 1 trophy at the end of the game.
