The French Football Federation has announced this afternoon that its disciplinary commission has decided to throw out both Paris FC and Lyon from the Coupe de France, following the violence in the stands that marred their tie.
The commission concluded that both clubs were responsible for the incidents, which prevented the game from resuming after half-time, with the score at 1-1.
The fixture had seen a small group of Lyon ultras seemingly at the heart of a flurry of crowd trouble, which included flare-throwing and pitch invasions, while the finger had also been pointed at the Ligue 2 club for an apparent lack of security.
In addition to their elimination from the cup, Paris FC will be made to play their next five games away from their home ground, the Stade Charléty, as well as been inflicted a €10,000 fine.
Lyon will see their away ends closed for the remainder of the ongoing campaign across all domestic fixtures, and have a suspended ban from future Coupe de France editions should supporter incidents again lead to matches being called off. Les Gones have also been hit with a fine, set at €52,000.
As a result of the suspension of both teams, Nice have qualified directly for the quarter-finals.
