Atletico Madrid’s Geoffrey Kondogbia set to join Marseille

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Geoffrey Kondogbia (30) is on the verge of joining Olympique de Marseille after an €8m agreement was reached with Atletico Madrid.

Last week, Marcelino’s arrival as Igor Tudor’s replacement in the dugout at Marseille was confirmed, and his first signing is now set to be completed. According to Romano, who first revealed Les Phocéens’ interest last week, the two club have found an agreement over an €8m fee. The player himself only had eyes for Marseille, who will have to go through the qualifying rounds to compete in the UEFA Champions League next season.

Kondogbia has reached an agreement to join Les Phocéens on a four-year deal and the medical, which will officialise his arrival, is now being scheduled. The player will face strong competition in the midfield at Marseille after L’Équipe revealed today that Mattéo Guendouzi, who has been strongly linked with an exit, may ultimately remain at the Véldrome next season.
