Christophe Galtier waiting for PSG to dismiss him

Paris Saint-Germain head coach Christophe Galtier and his staff know it’s a question of when, not if, the Ligue 1 champions part ways with them, according to a report from L’Équipe.

The former Lille and Nice manager is tied to PSG until 2024, but it is widely expected now that Galtier won’t sit in the Parc des Princes’ dugout next season. The outlet reports that Galtier is due to meet PSG Sporting Advisor Luís Campos on Monday.

L’Équipe believe that PSG will officially announce the end of Galtier’s tenure only once his successor is signed and appointed. German coach Julian Nagelsmann is reportedly the club’s owners’ favourite to take the job. Although no agreement has been found yet with the former Bayern Munich manager, Galtier is under no illusions – he knows he coached PSG for the last time against Clermont on Saturday night (2-3).

The outlet reports that, given his behaviour during PSG’s league title celebrations, Galtier may feel relieved at being dismissed by PSG. He was reportedly affected by the booing from the stands when his name was announced by the Parc des Princes’ speaker. However, Galtier reportedly holds no grudge and no regret at having signed for PSG in the first place, as he feels indebted to Campos for giving him a shot at coaching a top team.
