Norman Bassette to leave Caen in January

Foot Mercato are reporting that SM Caen forward Norman Bassette (18) is set to leave the Ligue 2 club during the January transfer window.

Bassette is getting frustrated by his lack of game time this season. The young Beglian striker excelled in the Coupe Gambardella last season, scoring seven goals in five matches, whilst this season, he has eight goals in 10 matches for the U19 side. However, manager Stéphane Moulin still hasn’t been convinced to play the player. He therefore has only four appearances in Ligue 2 this season, amassing just 34 minutes in France’s second division.

Bassette is considered as a fourth-choice striker, behind Alexandre Mendy, Benjamin Jeannot and Samuel Essende. A departure is expected with the player’s entourage gauging options. According to Foot Mercato, the player could force his departure from the club, currently seventh in Ligue 2, this month. Stade Rennais were interested in Bassette last summer.
