Emmanuel Petit & France 98′ team: “Didier Deschamps is no longer in contact with us.”

Former France midfielder Emmanuel Petit spoke on RMC Sport this morning about France manager Didier Deschamps and his relationship with the rest of the 1998 World Cup-winning squad.

As they do regularly, the 1998 world champions gathered at a dinner organised on Monday in Paris. Not all of them were present. But it is the absence of Didier Deschamps that is the most talked about. The day after the gathering, Emmanuel Petit spoke out on the subject.

Petit said that he is no longer in contact with his former teammates from the 1998 World Cup winning team, “With whom does Didier Deschamps have a relationship with? I don’t know. With the France 98′ team? We don’t really have contact with him, it’s been quite a while.”

When asked about possible exchanges between Deschamps and Marcel Desailly, Petit replied, “It’s possible, I don’t know. But with us, no, he doesn’t have any. And it’s reciprocal. We’re fed up with not saying things, the truth. We are in a world where we can’t say anything anymore.” He also added, “With whom does he Deschamps have relations? With nobody. That’s all.”
