Bordeaux have today completed the signing of Barcelona B right-back Sergi Palencia.
The 22-year-old – who has been captain of the Barcelona reserve side for the last two years – moves to Les Girondins on a season-loan deal that does not include an option to buy.
Palencia has made 103 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona B, mustering 2 goals.
The full-back becomes Gustavo Poyet’s fourth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Samuel Kalu, Toma Basic and Jimmy Briand to the club and he will compete Youssouf Sabaly and Milan Gajic for the right-back berth.
It is understood that Bordeaux have secured Palencia’s signature ahead of other interested parties including Sporting Gijon and Girona.
