Real Madrid ready to make move for PSG’s Kylian Mbappé

Following Kylian Mbappé’s (24) explosive letter to Paris Saint-Germain, informing the club that he won’t trigger his one-year contract extension, Real Madrid are ready to give the France captain a route out of the Parc des Princes this summer, according to Foot Mercato.

Mbappé informed PSG that he won’t be triggering the one-year extension included in his current deal through a formal letter on Monday. As a result, the former AS Monaco forward would be a free agent next summer. PSG, however, don’t want to lose such an asset on a free, making a transfer this summer a real possibility.

PSG’s Qatari owners, QSI, are reportedly confused by the development and were willing to go to significant lengths to ensure that Mbappé remained with Les Parisiens.

Amidst the fallout from Mbappé’s explosive letter, an old suitor, Real Madrid, could return to the table. Los Blancos missed out on Mbappé last summer, but according to Foot Mercato, the club always intended on returning for Mbappé. That move was anticipated for the summer of 2024, however, with this latest development, Real Madrid are now ready to make their move this summer.

Florentino Perez has been in discussions with Mbappé for the past few weeks and looks set to test PSG’s resolve to retain a valuable asset that could potentially be lost on a free at the end of next season.
